Directions
1) Grease and flour a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
MAKING
2) In a mixing bowl, combine the sugar, oil and eggs.
3) Beat well till smooth and creamy.
4) Combine and sift the flour, soda, salt and spices.
5) Add into the sugar mix, alternating with buttermilk.
6) Stir in the nuts, dates, and vanilla.
7) Pour the batter into the baking pan.
8) Place in the oven at 300 degrees and bake for 55 minutes to 1 hour.
SERVING
9) Slice and serve topped with whipped cream.
