Ingredients
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 egg
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Vegetable cooking spray
Directions
Combine sugar, oil, and egg in a medium bowl; beat at medium speed of an electic mixer until well blended.
Combine flour, soda, cinnamon, ginger, allspice, cloves, and salt in a small bowl; add to sugar mixture, beating well.
Stir in applesauce and vanilla.
Spoon batter into an 8-inch square baking pan coated with cooking spray.
Bake at 350° for 25 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
Cool completely, and cut into squares.
