Spicy Sweet Brisket Recipe
Spicy sweet brisket is a beef recipe prepared with vegetables. Flavored with a garlic tomato diavolo sauce, the beef is cooked in a dutch oven with added brown sugar and garlic powder. With veggies like carrots, celery and onions along with mushrooms, the spicy sweet brisket can be served as a filling meal with sides of choice.
Ingredients
| 4 to 5 pounds beef brisket, well trimmed | ||
| 3 carrots, cut into 2-inch pieces | ||
| Onions | 3 , thinly sliced | |
| Mushrooms | 1 pound | |
| 1 rib celery, cut into 2-inch pieces | ||
| 1 (26-ounce) jar Diavolo Sauce | ||
| Water | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Packed brown sugar | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Garlic powder | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Ground black pepper | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
Directions
Heat oven to 350°F.
Brown meat in large ungreased skillet.
Remove to large Dutch oven.
Add vegetables to meat.
In separate bowl, combine diavolo sauce, water and brown sugar; pour over meat.
Sprinkle with garlic powder and black pepper.
Cover tightly and bake 3 hours.
Remove cover; bake 30 minutes more or until meat is fork-tender and slightly browned.
Refrigerate meat and sauce mixture overnight to allow flavors to blend.
Cut meat in thin slices across the grain.
Reheat meat slices and sauce mixture in covered skillet over medium-low heat.
