Spicy Spells Recipe
Ingredients
| Softened butter | 100 Gram | |
| Sugar | 75 Gram | |
| Egg yolk | 1 Medium | |
| Plain flour | 175 Gram, sifted | |
| Ground cinnamon | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Mixed spice | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Raisins | 75 Gram, chopped | |
| Walnuts | 25 Gram, chopped | |
| Cherries | 9 , halved |
Directions
GETTING READY
1) Preheat the oven to 325 Deg F (170 DegC/Gas 3), grease and line a 11 x 7 inch shallow tin.
MAKING
2) Cream together the butter and sugar until fluffy, beat in the egg yolk, stir in the flour, spices, raisins and nuts with a wooden spoon, blend well until crumbly.
3) Pour into the greased tin, pressing down with a palette knife to smooth the surface and mark into 18 squares; press a halved cherry into the center of each square.
4) Bake in the preheated oven for 30 min until golden; remove and cut through the squares while it is still hot.; cool in the tin then turn out.
SERVING
5) Serve on a nice dish.
