Spicy Shoofly Pie Recipe

| Firmly packed brown sugar | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) (Crumb Mixture:) | |
| 1/2 teaspoon each of salt and ground | ||
| 1/8 teaspoon each of ground ginger, nutmeg, and cloves | ||
| Shortening | 2 Tablespoon (Crumb Mixture:) | |
| Molasses | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) (Liquid:) | |
| Egg | 1 , Well beaten (Liquid:) | |
| Baking soda | 1/2 Teaspoon (Liquid:) | |
| Hot water | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs) (Liquid:) | |
Directions
Line pie pan with pastry.
Combine ingredients for crumb mixture, using hands to blend.
Combine ingredients for liquid and pour into pastry.
Top with crumbs.
Bake in preheated hot oven (400°F.) for 10 minutes.
Reduce heat to slow (325°F.); continue baking for about 30 minutes, or until firm.
