Spicy Sesame Squares Recipe
Ingredients
| Sesame seeds | 1/4 Cup(16 tbs) | |
| Egg | 1 | |
| 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed | ||
| Melted butter | 3 Tablespoon | |
| All purpose flour | 1/2 Cup(16 tbs), sifted | |
| Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Soda | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Allspice | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Cardamom | 1/4 Teaspoon, ground | |
| Nutmeg | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
Directions
Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Spread sesame seeds on a large flat pan and toast in oven until golden, about 10 minutes.
Grease an 8-inch square cake pan.
Sprinkle half of the toasted sesame seeds evenly over the bottom of the prepared pan.
Beat egg lightly.
Add sugar gradually, beating after each addition.
Stir in melted butter.
Sift flour, salt, soda, allspice, cardamom and nutmeg together Into mixture and blend well.
Spoon batter into prepared pan and spread carefully and evenly.
Sprinkle remaining sesame seeds over top.
Bake about 25 minutes or until top springs back when touched lightly but centre is still chewy.
