Spicy Pear Squares Recipe
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon each baking powder and ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon each baking soda, salt and ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1 can (16 ounces) Bartlett pears, well drained and chopped
3/4 cup quick cooking rolled oats
1/2 cup each raisins and coarsely chopped walnuts
Powdered sugar
Directions
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Grease 13 X 9-inch baking pan.
Beat butter and sugar in large bowl with electric mixer until creamy.
Beat in eggs, 1 at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
Combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda, salt, nutmeg and cloves in small bowl.
Mix well.
Add to butter mixture; mix well.
Stir in pears, oats, raisins and walnuts.
Spread into prepared pan.
Bake 20 to 30 minutes until wooden pick inserted near center comes out clean.
Sprinkle lighdy with powdered sugar.
Cut into squares; serve warm.
