Ingredients

 Butter2 Tablespoon
 Onion1 Large, chopped
 Garlic3 Clove (5gm), chopped
 Root ginger1 Inch, chopped
 Ground cumin1 Teaspoon
 Cardamom1/2 Teaspoon
 1 pound boneless lean chopped beef, lamb or pork
 Dry bread crumbs3 1/2 Tablespoon
 Egg1 , beaten
 3 tablespoons chopped mint leaves
 Lemon juice1/4 Cup (16 tbs)
 Salt1 Teaspoon
 Cayenne pepper1/2 Teaspoon
 Ground black pepper1/2 Teaspoon
 Vegetable oil2 Cup (16 tbs) (For frying)

Directions

Heat the butter in a frying pan over low heat.
Add the onion and saute for 3 minutes.
Add the garlic, ginger, cumin, and cardamom; saute the mixture, stirring occasionally, another 3-4 minutes, and reserve.
Mix together the meat, bread crumbs, egg, mint, chile, lemon juice, salt, cayenne, and black pepper.
Add the onion mixture to the meat mixture and shape into patties about 2 inches in diameter.
Heat about 3/4 inch of oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
Add the patties two or three at a time, to give the oil time to reheat, and cook until the patties are well browned, turning them frequently.
Drain them on paper towels and serve with a mixed salad and warmed pita bread.
