Spicy Apple Sauce Cake Recipe

Microwave at high setting 3 minutes, or until mixture comes to a boil.
Stir in applesauce.
Cool to lukewarm.
Grease 2 1/2-qt. glass mixing bowl.
Place greased 2 1/2" diameter drinking glass in center of bowl; set aside.
Sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon and cloves; set aside.
Cream together butter and sugar in bowl until light and fluffy, using electric mixer at medium speed.
Beat in egg and vanilla.
Add dry ingredients alternately with applesauce mixture to creamed mixture, beating well after each addition.
Stir in walnuts.
Turn mixture into prepared bowl.
Microwave at high setting 8 minutes, or until cake tester or wooden pick inserted in center of cake comes out clean, rotating dish one-quarter turn after 4 minutes.
(Top of cake will be moist.) Cool in bowl on wooden board or heatproof surface 10 minutes.
Remove cake from bowl.
Cool on rack.
Prepare Lemon Icing.
Drizzle cake with Lemon Icing.
