Spiced Pear Pie Recipe
the spiced pear pie is a a dessert pie made with a pie shell base filled with canned pears flavored and spiced with ginger, cinnamon, mace and leon juice along with lemon rind. Combined together the pear filling was sweetened with sugar and thickened with cornstarch. topped with extra sugar spice and flour mix, the spiced pear pie is baked and served hot.

Unbaked 9-inch pie shell
1 (20-ounce) can pears, drained and cut into quarters OR 6 to 8 fresh pears, pared, cored and sliced
3/4 cup sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tbs. cornstarch
1 tsp. grated lemon rind
1 tbs. lemon juice
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. mace
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup butter, softened
Directions
Line pie plate with pastry and fill with pears.
Mix 1/4 cup sugar, the salt, cornstarch, lemon rind and juice together and spread over pears.
Mix remaining sugar, spices and flour together and add to butter; stir with a fork until of crumbly consistency and sprinkle over pears.
Bake at 450F for 15 minutes.
Reduce temperature to 350F and bake about 30 minutes longer.
