Spiced Orange Chicken Recipe
Ingredients
| All purpose flour | 3 Tablespoon | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Ground cinnamon | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Ground cloves | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Pepper | 1 Dash | |
| Fryer chicken | 2 1/2 pound | |
| Shortening | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Butter/Margarine | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Oranges | 4 | |
| Brown sugar | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Soy sauce | 1 Tablespoon |
Directions
In paper or plastic bag combine flour, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and pepper; add a few pieces of chicken at a time and shake to coat.
In large skillet melt together shortening and butter or margarine; add chicken.
Brown slowly till golden, about 20 minutes.
Peel and section oranges, reserving juice; add enough water to juice to measure 1/2 cup liquid.
Stir in brown sugar and soy.
Drain fat from skillet; add juice mixture.
Cover; simmer 20 minutes.
Add oranges; cover and simmer 2 to 3 minutes more.
Transfer chicken and oranges to serving platter.
Remove excess fat from pan juices; spoon juices over chicken.
