Spiced Chicken Livers Recipe
Ingredients
| Chicken livers | 1 pound | |
| Water | ||
| 1/2 cup each soy sauce and chopped green onions, including tops | ||
| 1/4 cup dry vermouth, sherry, or white rice wine | ||
| Sugar | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Anise seed | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| 1 1/2 teaspoons chopped fresh ginger root, or 3/8 teaspoon ground ginger | ||
Directions
Cover livers with water and bring just to boiling.
Drain well.
Add soy sauce, green onions, wine, sugar, anise seed, and ginger.
Bring to boiling and simmer gently, covered, for 15 minutes.
Chill thoroughly in stock.
Slice livers in bite-sized pieces, return to stock, and keep cold.
Drain to serve, at room temperature.
