Directions

GETTING READY
1 Pick, and wash all the dals.
2 In a bowl, soak all the dals overnight.
3 Remove their husk.

MAKING
4 In a pan, boil water.
5 Add in the dals, white cuminseeds, salt, asafoetida and ginger.
6 Cook until tender.
7 Stir in the curd, red chilli powder and black pepper .
8 Cook until combined.
9 In a pan, heat the ghee.
10 Add in bay leaf, whole red chillies and chopped onion.
11 Cook until light brown.
12 Add in black cuminseeds and stir for a minute.
13 Mix with the dal and cook for a few minutes.

SERVING
14 Sprinkle ground spices.
15 Serve hot with chapatis or boiled rice.
