Ingredients

 2 1/2 to 3 pounds spareribs, cut in pieces
 1 #2 1/2 can (3 1/2 cups) sauerkraut
 Carrots2 Medium, shredded
 Tomato juice1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs)
 Brown sugar2 Tablespoon
 Caraway seed2 Teaspoon
 1 unpared apple, finely chopped
 2 teaspoons salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper
 2 teaspoons salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Directions

Season ribs with salt and pepper.
Combine kraut (including liquid) with remaining ingredients; place in Dutch oven.
Place ribs, meaty side up, atop kraut.
Bake, covered, in 350° oven 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours or until ribs are done, basting kraut with juices several times during the last hour.
