3 strips bacon
 
1 medium onion, chopped
 
1 green pepper, chopped
 
3 cups cooked whole wheat
 
1 quart tomatoes (4 cups) and juice Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Brown bacon in frying pan; remove to cool, and then crumble. In bacon drippings, cook onion and green pepper until soft. Add wheat and tomatoes; cover and simmer for 5 to 6 hours. (The longer the wheat cooks the more of the flavors it absorbs.) To serve, add crumbled bacon and season to taste with salt and pepper.
