Spanish Rice Recipe
Spanish Rice is easy to make. This Spanish Rice does not cost you much either. What more can you probably look forward to!
Ingredients
12 oz (360 g) Multi-Grain or Soy Tempeh
2 tbs (30 ml) water
2 tbs (30 ml) tamari
2 cloves minced garlic
3/4 tsp (4 ml) onion powder
2 stalks celery, sliced
1 medium onion, chopped
1 medium bell pepper, chopped
2 tbs oil
1 cup (240 ml) brown rice
6 oz (180 g) tomato paste
8 oz (240 g) tomato sauce
3 cups (720 ml) water
1/2 tsp (3 ml) cayenne powder
1/2 tsp (3 ml) salt
1/8 tsp (.5 ml) black pepper
2 tsp (10 ml) oil
Directions
Combine first 5 ingredients in a medium-size stainless steel or glass mixing bowl.
In a large skillet saute the celery, onion and bell pepper in 2 tbs oil, until soft.
Stir in the rice until lightly toasted.
Add tomato paste, tomato sauce, water, cayenne, salt and pepper.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat and cover.
Simmer 1 hour.
Brown tempeh mixture in 2 tsp oil and add to rice mixture.
In a large skillet saute the celery, onion and bell pepper in 2 tbs oil, until soft.
Stir in the rice until lightly toasted.
Add tomato paste, tomato sauce, water, cayenne, salt and pepper.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat and cover.
Simmer 1 hour.
