2 cups all purpose flour
 
1 tablespoon sugar
 
2 teaspoons baking powder
 
1 teaspoon dry mustard
 
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
 
1/2 teaspoon salt
 
1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper
 
1/4 cup margarine, softened
 
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded Cheddar cheese
 
1/2 cup chopped pimento stuffed green olives
 
1 cup buttermilk
 
1 egg

Directions

Preheat oven to 375°F.
Grease or paper-line 12 (2 1/2 inch) muffin cups.
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, mustard, baking soda, salt and red pepper in large bowl.
Cut in margarine with pastry blender until mixture resembles fine crumbs.
Stir in cheese and olives.
Combine buttermilk and egg in small bowl until blended.
Stir into flour-cheese mixture just until moistened.
Spoon evenly into prepared muffin cups.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown and wooden toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean.
Immediately remove from pan.
Cool on wire rack.
