Southern Sausage Casserole Recipe

This is a kick ass recipe for Southern Sausage Casserole which will knockout anyone who eats it. Excuse my French please. Best enjoyed as a Main Dish this recipe was taught to me by a dear friend who also happens to be a great chef. Ingredients

 
1/2 lb. pork sausage
 
1 c. chopped celery
 
1/4 c. chopped onions
 
1/4 c. chopped green pepper
 
1 c. cooked kidney beans
 
2 tbsp. minced parsley
 
3/4 tsp. salt
 
3/4 c. tomato paste
 
1 c. sifted flour
 
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
 
2 tbsp. shortening
 
1/2 c. shredded American cheese
 
1/2 c. milk

Directions

Brown sausage in heavy skillet; add all vegetables except beans.
Brown vegetables lightly; drain off excess fat.
Season wii:h 1/4 teaspoon salt.
Combine tomato paste and 3/4 cup water; add to sausage mixture.
Add beans; mix well.
Cover; simmer for 10 minutes.
Pour mixture into 1 1 /2-quart casserole.
Sift flour with baking powder and remaining salt.
Cut in shortening until mixture is crumbly.
Add cheese and milk, mixing only until dry ingredients are moistened.
Drop cheese mixture by spoonfuls over top of sausage mixture.
Bake at 425 degrees for 20 minutes.
