Southern Italian Steak 'N Pasta Recipe
You don't have to be a gourmet to judge how appetizing and flavorful Southern Italian Steak 'n Pasta is. If it is an impressive Main Dish that you require, then this dish is the answer. With easily procurable ingredients this Southern Italian Steak 'n Pasta recipe is a must try.
Ingredients
2 beef tenderloin or eye round steaks, cut 1 inch thick (about 4 ozs. each)
1 tbs. olive oil
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced
3/4 lb. plum tomatoes, seeded and chopped
1/4 tsp. sugar
1/8 tsp. each ground nutmeg, freshly ground black pepper and salt
1 tbs. chopped fresh basil
3 tbs. grated romano cheese, divided
1 1/2 cups cooked penne or mostacciolini
Directions
Heat oil in med.
Saucepan over medium low heat.
Add onion and garlic; cook and stir until tender crisp.
Add tomatoes, sugar, nutmeg, pepper and salt; cook over medium heat 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
Stir in basil and 1 tbs.of the cheese.
Cover; remove from heat.
Heat heavy nonstick skillet over medium heat.
Brush pan lightly with additional oil.
Add steaks; pan broil to desired doneness, 8 -10 minutes, turning once.
Carve each steak into 1/4 inch strips; season with salt and pepper, if desired.
Divide pasta between 2 plates.
Spoon tomato sauce over pasta sprinkle with remaining 2 tbs.cheese.
Serve steak with pasta.
