Southern Batter Bread Recipe
Southern Batter Bread is a easy to cook. The eggs and milk gives the Southern Batter Bread a soft taste.
Ingredients
| Cornmeal | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Water | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Milk | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Lard | 1 Tablespoon, melted | |
| Eggs | 2 , Well beaten |
Directions
Mix the cornmeal and salt in a saucepan; blend in the water.
Bring rapidly to boiling.
Stirring constantly, boil 5 minutes (mixture will be very thick).
Blend in the milk and lard.
Vigorously beat into well beaten eggs.
Thoroughly grease a 1 1/2 quart casserole and heat 2 to 3 minutes in oyen.
Turn batter into hot casserole.
Bake at 400°F 45 to 50 minutes, or until bread tests done.
