Ingredients

 2 lbs. mackerel or herring
 Vinegar1 Cup (16 tbs)
 2 thin slices onion
 Mixed spices1 Tablespoon
 Salt1 Teaspoon
 Water1/2 Cup (16 tbs)

Directions

Fillet and skin fish; cut into 6 pieces.
Put fish into a baking dish.
Add vinegar, onion, spices, salt, and water.
Cover dish.
Bake at 350°F 20 to 30 minutes.
Serve hot or cold.
