Sour Milk Chocolate Cake Recipe
The sour milk chocolate cake is prepared with cocoa and vanilla for flavor. Prepared with a batter of flour, sour milk and sugar, the sour milk chocolate cake is best baked and served fresh from the oven as dessert.
Ingredients
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sour milk
1 t. baking soda
2 c. flour
5 t. cocoa
1 t. vanilla
Pinch of salt
Directions
Mix cocoa with water to make a paste.
Cream sugar, salt and shortening.
Add soda to milk (stir over bowl as it foams over the cup measure).
Add to the creamed sugar and shortening; add flour, then vanilla and cocoa paste.
Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.
This recipe makes an 8 inch layer cake.

The cake does not have a very chocolate-y taste. Not rich tasting as other recipes I have made. Deleted from recipe book. Maybe a good frosting will rescue it from the garbage.

The sour milk did not foam when I added the baking soda. Is this why it did not rise much?
