Directions
Melt shortening in medium skillet and lightly brown onion.
Add sauerkraut, stirring to mix, cover skillet.
Simmer for 1 hour.
Uncover pan.
Drain off excess liquid.
Add pepper and salt if needed.
Just before serving, stir in sour cream.
