Sour Milk Biscuits Recipe
Ingredients
| Flour | 1 3/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Baking powder | 3 Teaspoon | |
| Sugar | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Baking soda | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| 1/4 cup lard, shortening, butter or margarine | ||
| 3/4 cup sour milk or buttermilk | ||
Directions
1. Start oven, set at Hot, 450° F.
2. Sift the flour with the salt, baking powder, sugar and baking soda. Cut in the lard, shortening, butter or margarine until well mixed and add the milk, stirring quickly, until a soft but not sticky dough is formed.
3. Turn out on a lightly floured board and knead just enough to shape into a smooth ball. Roll out lightly 1/2-inch thick. Cut with a floured biscuit cutter.
4. Place on an ungreased baking sheet, 1/2 inch apart for a crusty biscuit, and close together for a soft biscuit.
5. Bake 12 to 15 minutes.
