Ingredients

 Cherries500 Gram
 1.8 l / 3 pt / 7 1/2 cups cold water
 250 g / 8 oz / 1 1/7 cups sugar
 Cinnamon1/2 Teaspoon
 Cloves4
 Egg1 , beaten
 Lemon juice1 Tablespoon
 Sugar2 Tablespoon
 150 ml / 1/4 pt / 2/3 cup sour cream

Directions

Combine cherries, water, sugar, cinnamon, and cloves in a large saucepan.
Bring slowly to the boil, and allow to simmer until soft, 30-40 min.
Then set aside to cool.
Combine egg and sugar in a large mixing bowl, beating well.
Add sour cream, and mix well.
Slowly add the cherry compote to this mixture, then lemon juice to taste.
Pour into bowls, and serve chilled. (Try also with plums, apples, pears, or rhubarb.)
