8 ounces fresh sorrel, shredded finely
1/4 cup finely chopped flat Italian parsley
2 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and diced
1 quart homemade vegetable or chicken broth
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
Directions
1. Heat the oil in a large heavy kettle and saute the sorrel, parsley, and potatoes for 5 minutes, stirring often.
2. Add the broth, pepper, and salt to taste, bring to a boil, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes. Puree the mixture in the container of an electric blender or food processor and pour into a clean kettle.
