Ingredients

 
2/3 c. shortening
 
1 1/2c. (packed) brown sugar
 
1 egg, beaten
 
1/2 c. molasses
 
1 tsp. vanilla
 
3 112 c. flour
 
1 tsp. soda
 
1 tsp. baking powder
 
2 tsp. cinnamon
 
1 tsp. ground cloves
 
1/2 tsp. ginger
 
1 tsp. salt
 
2/3 c. sour milk

Directions

Cream shortening; add sugar gradually, beating until light.
Add egg, molasses and vanilla; blend well.
Sift dry ingredients together; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheet.
Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
