Ingredients

 Dry yeast1
 Lukewarm water1/2 Cup (16 tbs)

 1/2 cup oil or melted butter
 Honey1 1/2 Tablespoon
 Salt1 Teaspoon
 Boiling water1/2 Cup (16 tbs)
 Egg1 , beaten
 Whole wheat pastry flour3 1/2 Cup (16 tbs)
 1/2 teaspoon water sesame, poppy, or caraway seeds

Directions

Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.
Add 1 teaspoon honey.
In large bowl, mix oil or butter, 1 1/2 tablespoons honey, salt, and boiling water.
When lukewarm, add first beaten egg, then dissolved yeast.
Gradually stir in whole wheat flour, mixing well, but do not knead.
If dough is too soft and sticky, add a bit more flour.
Put in refrigerator to chill until firm.
Preheat oven to 425° F.
Divide dough into 12 equal parts.
On floured board and in hands, roll into sticks about a foot in length.
Place 1 1/2 inches apart on greased baking sheet, and brush with beaten egg to which 1/2 teaspoon water has been added.
Then sprinkle with seeds.
Let rise about 30 minutes.
Bake for 15 minutes in preheated oven.
Cool on wire rack
