Soda Brown Bread Recipe

Ingredients

 
1 lb. whole wheat flour
 
1/2 lb. white flour
 
1 tsp. Salt
 
2 tsp. baking soda
 
3/4 pt. buttermilk or sour milk

Directions

Mix both flours thoroughly, add salt and soda.
Make a well in center.
Add buttermilk.
Stir with wooden spoon.
Dough should be soft and manageable.
Knead dough into a ball with floured hands.
Put on a lightly floured baking sheet and keep circle shape while flattening dough ( 1 1/2 inches thick).
With a floured knife make a cross on dough.
Bake in a 350° oven for about 35-40 minutes.
Cool before cutting.
