Snowcapped Salisbury Steaks Recipe
Ingredients
1 1/2 lb. ground beef
1/4 cup quick-cooking rolled oats
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup tomato juice
1 egg white
1/2 cup commercial sour cream
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. prepared horseradish
1 tsp. prepared mustard
Directions
Combine beef, rolled oats, onion, 2 tsp. salt, pepper, egg and tomato juice, mixing lightly with a fork.
Shape into 6 patties, 1 1/2 inches thick.
Broil about 4 inches from the heat until well browned on the outside and done as you like them (5 minutes a side for pink inside).
Beat egg white until stiff while patties are broiling.
Fold in sour cream, 1/2 tsp. salt, horseradish and mustard.
Remove broiler pan from oven and divide egg white mixture evenly among the patties, spreading it to cover the tops.
Slip back under the broiler and broil until bubbling and lightly browned.
Serve immediately.
