Ingredients

 
1/2 cup shortening
 
3/4 cup sugar
 
1 egg
 
1 3/4 cup flour
 
1 tsp. cream of tartar
 
1/2 tsp. soda
 
Pinch salt
 
2 Tbsp. sugar
 
1 Tbsp. cinnamon

Directions

Cream shortening and sugar.
Add egg.
Combine flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt.
Add to creamed mixture.
Shape dough into 36 1-inch balls.
Blend sugar and cinnamon in plastic bag.
Shake balls to coat with mixture.
Arrange 10 balls on wax paper covered dish spacing cookies in ring 2-inches apart.
Microwave (high) 1 3/4 to 2 minutes, rotating 1/4 turn after 1 minute. (Cookies will puff, then flatten out.) Remove on wax paper and cool.
Cook remaining cookies using fresh wax paper for each batch.
