Sliced Beef With Oyster Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

 
2 tbsp (30 ml) vegetable oil
 
1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) chopped garlic
 
1 lb (450 g) boneless steak, thinly sliced
 
1 tsp (5 ml) soy sauce
 
1 tbsp (15 ml) dry sherry
 
3/4 cup (185 ml) beef stock
 
1 tbsp (15 ml) cornstarch
 
3 tbsp (45 ml) oyster sauce
 
1 tsp (5 ml) soy sauce
 
1 tsp (5 ml) sugar
 
1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) salt

Directions

1 Heat oil in a pan. Add garlic and stir briefly. Add a third of beef. Stir-fry 1 minute until it changes color. Remove and repeat with remaining slices.
2 Return beef to pan. Add soy sauce and sherry, and cook for 1 minute. Pour in 1/2 cup (125 ml) stock.
3 Blend cornstarch with oyster sauce, remaining stock, soy sauce, sugar and salt. Stir in to thicken.
