Skillet Cornbread Recipe
Ingredients
| Yellow cornmeal | 1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Sugar | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Baking soda | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Egg | 1 | |
| Buttermilk | 1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Bacon drippings - 2 to 3 tablespoons | ||
Directions
GETTING READY
1 Preheat the oven to 400°F.
2 Lightly grease a 9-inch cast-iron skillet with bacon drippings.
MAKING
3 In a bowl, add the dry ingredients.
4 Stir in the egg and buttermilk, mixing well.
5 Heat the prepared skillet in the oven for 3 minutes or until very hot.
6 Pour the batter into the hot skillet, and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
SERVING
7 Serve hot.
