Sindhi Dal Recipe
Sindhi daal is a cooked indian preparation of bengal gram with tamarind pulp and garam masala. Flavorful and spicy with a hint of sour taste, the sindhi daal is flavored with mango powder, red chili cumin and ghee for a rich taste. it is best served with hot rotis or rice.
Ingredients
200 gm Bengal gram, washed and soaked for 4-5 hours
2 tbsp tamarind pulp
1/2 tsp garam masala powder
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp mango powder
1/4 tsp turmeric
Salt to taste
2 tbsp desi ghee
Directions
Boil dal in 75 ml water with turmeric and salt.
As soon as it comes to a boil, reduce heat to medium and boil for about 20-25 minutes till tender, but not mushy.
Gently stir in the tamarind pulp and let it simmer for a while.
Pour the dal in a serving bowl, sprinkle all the masala powders on top, and heat the desi ghee in a small pan.
When smoking hot, pour it over the dal and the masalas.
Serve.
