Shrimp Marengo Recipe
Ingredients
Bacon drippings
1 c. chopped onion
1 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 clove of garlic, minced
1 Ige. can Italian-style plum tomatoes
1 6-oz. can tomato paste
1 can chicken broth
1 tsp. monosodium glutamate
1 1/4 tsp. oregano
1 t/4 tsp. crushed basil
1 bay leaf
1 tbsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 tbsp. sugar
3 drops of hot sauce
2 ib. shelled shrimp, de veined
Directions
Heat bacon drippings in large skillet; saute onion, mushrooms and garlic until mushrooms are tender.
Add tomatoes, tomato paste, chicken broth, monosodium glutamate, oregano, basil, bay leaf, salt, pepper, sugar and hot sauce; bring to a boil.
Simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes.
Add shrimp; cook for 10 minutes longer or until shrimp are tender.
Serve over rice.
