Ingredients

 
6 ounces edible pod peas
 
3/4 pound medium sized raw shrimp
 
1 tablespoon peanut or safflower oil
 
1/2 teaspoon salt
 
1/3 cup clam juice or chicken stock
 
1 small onion, cut in half, then into small wedges
 
1 small stalk celery, cut diagonally
 
1/2 teaspoon monosodium glutamate (optional)
 
1 teaspoon soy sauce
 
1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch dissolved in 1 tablespoon cold water

Directions

Break off stem ends of pea pods and pull off strings.
Peel and butterfly shrimp and wash out the sand vein.
Heat a wok or large frying pan, add oil, salt, and shrimp and stir and cook for 1 minute or until shrimp turn pink.
Add clam juice or stock, peas, onion, and celery.
Cover and cook 2 minutes, stirring once or twice.
Add monosodium glutamate soy sauce, and cornstarch mixture and cook, stirring, until thickened.
But do include another vegetable entree dish.
Contains about 110 calories per serving.
