Shrimp Marengo Recipe
Ingredients
| Bacon drippings | ||
| Onion | 1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Mushrooms | 1 Pound, sliced | |
| Garlic | 1 Clove (5gm), minced | |
| 1 Ige. Can Italian-style plum tomatoes | ||
| Tomato Paste | 1 6 Ounce | |
| Chicken broth | 1 Can (10oz) | |
| Monosodium glutamate | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Oregano | 1 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Basil | 1 1/4 Teaspoon, crushed | |
| Bay Leaf | 1 | |
| Salt | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Pepper | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Sugar | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Hot Sauce | 3 Drop | |
| 2 lb. shelled shrimp, de veined | ||
Directions
Heat bacon drippings in large skillet; saute onion, mushrooms and garlic until mushrooms are tender.
Add tomatoes, tomato paste, chicken broth, mono-sodium glutamate, oregano, basil, bay leaf, salt, pepper, sugar and hot sauce; bring to a boil.
Simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes.
Add shrimp; cook for 10 minutes longer or until shrimp are tender.
Serve over rice.
