Directions

Put the flour and salt into the processor bowl.
Cut the lard and margarine into cubes and add to the flour.
Process until the mixture is like fine bread crumbs .
With the machine switched on, add the water through the feeder tube to make a firm dough.
Roll out and use as required.
Variations Wholewheat Pastry Substitute wholewheat flour for white flour.
It may be necessary to scrape down the bowl once or twice during processing as wholewheat flour tends to fly around the bowl.
Add a little more water if necessary as wholewheat flour is a little more absorbent than white.
Savory Pastry Add 1/2 cup grated Cheddar cheese to the flour.
Season with a pinch of pepper and a pinch of dry mustard.
