Shish Kebab Recipe

I have to admit this recipe of shish kebab is on my favorite list. The asian shish kebab has a way of addicting you to it on the first bite. It is generally eaten as a tasty main dish. The shish kebab is made with beef which can be easily found at any grocery store. Whenever you try out this shish kebab, don't forget to let me know your observations about it .

Ingredients

 
1 1/2 pounds beef cubes, from sirloin tips, London broil, or sirloin end steaks
 
3/4 cup white wine
 
6-8 cloves garlic, chopped or pressed
 
1 small red onion, chopped
 
2 teaspoons dried oregano
 
12-16 cherry tomatoes
 
12-16 button mushrooms, wiped clean
 
1 large red bell pepper, cubed into 12-16 pieces
 
1 zucchini, cubed into 12-16 pieces
 
12-16 pearl onions, blanched and peeled

Directions

1. Place the meat, wine, garlic, onion, and oregano in a shallow glass or ceramic bowl. Cover and refrigerate overnight or let sit at room temperature for no more than 2 hours.
2. Preheat the broiler. Set aside 12 skewers.
3. Remove the meat from the marinade and discard marinade.
4. Cooking time of meat and vegetables will vary, so it's best not to combine them on the same skewer. Fill some skewers with meat pieces and fill other skewers with individual vegetables.
5. Place skewers under a broiler and cook for about 5 minutes; turn them over about halfway through.
6. When finished cooking, remove vegetables and meat from skewers and place in a serving bowl. Serve with a dipping sauce.
other choices: Substitute lamb, chicken, or pork for the beef. Substitute 3 small red onions, quartered, for the pearl onions.
