Sherried Almond Pears Recipe
Sherried Almond Pears is an easy to make fruit dessert that is perfect for your parties. I have a weakness for pears and this Sherried Almond Pears pleases me plenty. Try it for yourself!
Ingredients
2 large ripe pears, halved, peeled and cored
1/4 cup butter
2 tablespoons light brown sugar
1/2 cup ground almonds
2 drops almond extract
1 tablespoon sherry
1/2 cup white wine or pure orange juice
2 candied cherries, halved
Whipped cream to decorate
Directions
1 Arrange the pear halves, hollow part upwards, in an attractive shallow serving dish.
2 Place the butter in a large jug and microwave on power 2 for 2 minutes.
3 Beat in the sugar, ground almonds, almond essence (extract) and sherry, a little at a time. Use to fill the four hollows.
4 Pour wine or orange juice into the base of the dish. Cover with plastic wrap and pierce.
5 Microwave on full power for 2-3 minutes. (The length of time will depend on the size and ripeness of the pear halves.)
6 Spoon the wine or juice over the pears. Serve hot or cold, decorated with half a cherry and whipped cream.
