Shanghai Vegetables Recipe

Ingredients
4 oz. fresh asparagus or green beans, cut 1-inch long
1 fresh carrot, peeled
3 cups boiling water
1 (8-oz.) can whole bamboo shoots, drained
Seasoning sauce:
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup chicken broth
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon sesame oil
3 tablespoons milk
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
6 tablespoons vegetable oil
1-1/2 garlic cloves, crushed
1 (4-oz.) can whole mushrooms, drained
1-1/4 teaspoons salt
Directions
Cook asparagus and carrot in 3 cups boiling water 3 minutes.
Drain, then plunge cooked vegetables into cold water.
Drain well.
Chop drained vegetables and bamboo shoots into large matchsticks with a cleaver.
Mix ingredients for seasoning sauce in a small bowl; set aside.
Heat oil in a wok over high heat 30 seconds.
Stir-fry garlic until golden, 30 seconds.
Add chopped vegetables, mushrooms and salt.
Stir-fry 2 to 3 minutes.
Add seasoning sauce.
Stir-fry until sauce thickens slightly.
Mix well to coat vegetables with sauce.
