Shan Noodle Recipe Video

Rice noodle dish traditional to the Shan people of Myanmar. This noodle dish is very tasty and you can add more chiles if you like. The rice noodle is very thin. You will notice they eat at a low table sitting on the floor as it is called in Thailand Khon Toke style. Chopsticks are used for noodle dishes.

Recipe Story

In our Union of Myanmar Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Bamar, Mon, Rakhine, and Shan national races are residing peacefully in harmony and unity. As soon as you enter Shan traditional house, you will notice that shrine room and sitting room are combined. The kitchen is next to the sitting room at the back of the house.

Ingredients

 
There are dried noodle made of rice, chicken, onion, boiled tomatoes, ground ginger and garlic, peanut oil, chile powder and a little salt.

Directions

The first process is slice the chicken. The next is slicing the tomatoes, slice onion as thinly as you can. A few onion needs to slice moderately. When the oil is cooked, add onion, a little chili powder for the color and needs with slice chicken.

When it has cooked, Shan noodle is ready to be served. Shan noodle is cooked in the boiling water and you will love to taste traditional softer sticky rice noodle.

madam please clarify the following-for the garnish you say pickle what pickle ?its not clear in the video u say peanut powder but i see halved peanuts on garnish and u say gingergarlic is it fried ginger garlic or paste? please clarify.the final part of the audio is not clear. warm regards from india. swaroop tagore ( my late mom lydia is from mamyo)

Yes they are very dressed up in this video. When we have been there they do have traditional Shan dress but not so fancy. WOW part Shan, awesome!

I love this video. It's so daft when they sit around the table in national dress with the french guy looking slightly uncomfortable :-) In case you haven't guessed, it's the equivalent of a bunch of scotsman in full kilt and sporran - ie the Shan usually reserve this stuff for weddings and other official ceremony things. I'm about an eighth Shan. Or something like that.
