Sesame Wheat Germ Cornbread Recipe
Ingredients
| 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, unsifted | ||
| Sugar | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salt | 1 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Soda | 1 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Cornmeal | 2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Wheat germ | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Sesame seeds | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), toasted | |
| Buttermilk | 2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 3/4 cup salad oil or melted butter or margarine | ||
| 2 eggs, lightly beaten | ||
Directions
In a large bowl, stir together flour, sugar, salt, and soda until thoroughly blended.
Mix in cornmeal, wheat germ, and sesame seeds.
In a separate bowl, mix together buttermilk, salad oil or melted butter, and eggs.
Stir liquid mixture into dry ingredients just until blended.
Pour into a greased 9 by 5-inch loaf pan.
Bake in a 375° oven for about 55 minutes or (until a wooden skewer inserted in center comes out clean.
Let cool in pan for 5 minutes; then turn out onto a rack to cool completely.
