Sesame Seed Beef Recipe
Sesame Seed Beef is a sumptuous beef dish that is simply a joy to prepare and serve. My family loves this well flavored and filling Sesame Seed Beef and I make it often for our weekend luncheons. You will love it too. Trust me!
Ingredients
2/3 lb. beef tenderloin or flank steak
Marinade:
1 tablespoon rice wine or dry sherry
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger root
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
4-1/2 teaspoons sesame oil
4-1/2 teaspoons soy sauce
3 or 4 large lettuce leaves
Seasoning sauce:
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
1-1/2 teaspoons hot bean sauce
1-1/2 teaspoons hoisin sauce
1-1/2 teaspoons oyster sauce
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons chicken broth
1 cup vegetable oil
1 garlic clove, crushed
1 tablespoon sesame oil
Directions
Use a cleaver to slice beef across grain and at an angle into thin 2-inch square pieces.
Combine marinade ingredients in a medium bowl.
Add beef squares; mix well.
Let stand 30 minutes.
Arrange lettuce on a platter.
Combine ingredients for seasoning sauce in a small bowl.
Mix well and set aside.
Heat oil in a wok over high heat 1 minute.
Stir-fry marinated beef in hot oil until very lightly browned.
Remove from wok with a slotted spoon; set aside.
Remove oil from wok except 2 tablespoons.
Heat oil remaining in wok over high heat 1 minute.
Stir-fry garlic until golden, 30 seconds.
Add seasoning sauce.
Stir-fry until sauce thickens slightly.
Add cooked beef; mix well.
Stir in sesame oil.
Spoon mixture over lettuce leaves.
