Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, beat sugar and butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Beat in 2 whole eggs until light and fluffy.
2. On low speed, beat in flour mixed with baking powder and salt, alternately with milk and vanilla, until dough is smooth, scraping down side of bowl frequently with a rubber spatula.
3. Divide dough into 42 pieces. With palms of hands, roll each piece of dough into a 7-inch rope. In a small bowl, beat egg yolk with a few drops of water. Spread sesame seeds on a saucer. Shape each rope into a ring and pinch edges together to seal. Brush tops with egg yolk mixture, dip into sesame seeds, and place, seeded-side up, on lightly greased cookie sheets.
4. Bake 12 to 15 minutes, or until firm and very lightly browned. Remove rings to a rack and let cool completely. Store in a tightly covered container.
