Sesame Bows Recipe
The Sesame Bows is a yummy snack that my kids love munching in every now and then. They are easy to prepare and can be stored up for the kids. Try the Sesame Bows!
Ingredients
| All purpose flour | 2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Sugar | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salt | 1 Pinch | |
| 1/4 cup black sesame seeds, or regular sesame seeds | ||
| Egg | 1 | |
| Bean curd square | 1/2 | |
| 1 to 2 teaspoons milk, if needed | ||
| Vegetable oil | 3 Cup (16 tbs) (For frying) | |
Directions
Sift together flour, sugar and salt into a large bowl.
Add sesame seeds; mix well.
Beat egg slightly in a small bowl.
Use a spoon to break up bean curd.
Add to egg; mix well.
Add egg mixture to flour mixture.
Knead to mix well.
Dough should be soft.
If too dry, knead in 1 to 2 teaspoons milk.
Cover with a damp towel and let stand 30 minutes.
Place dough on a floured surface.
Use a rolling pin to roll out dough to a long 1/8-inch thick sheet.
Use a sharp knife to cut dough into 3" X 1-1/2" strips.
Make three 1-1/2-inch slits lengthwise in the middle of each strip.
To make a bow, pull one end through the middle slit.
Heat 3 cups oil in a wok over medium-high heat to 350°F (175°C).
Reduce heat to low and carefully lower several bows into hot oil with a slotted metal spoon.
Fry several at a time 3 minutes.
Increase heat to high and fry 1 minute longer until golden brown.
Remove with slotted spoon, drain and cool on paper towels.
