Senate Bean Soup Recipe
This Senate Bean Soup is one of the best navy beans and ham hock starters that I've ever tasted!The Senate Bean Soup is so filling that though meant to be a starter you can have it as an independent meal ! Try out ad tell me if you like it !
Ingredients
1 pound dried navy beans
7 or 8 cups water (approximately)
1 pound smoked ham hocks
2 onions, finely chopped
4 stalks celery with leaves, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 cup fresh parsley leaves, finely chopped
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Directions
Soak beans in the water overnight in the slow cooker.
Do not drain.
Cover and cook on high about 3 hours, until very tender.
Add remaining ingredients except salt and pepper, cover, and cook on low 10 to 12 hours.
Remove ham, chop meat and return it to soup.
Season to taste with salt and pepper.
More water may be added if soup seems too thick.
Serve piping hot in large soup bowls.
Its a meal in itself.
