Ingredients

 
2 tbsp (30 mL) butter
 
1 tbsp (15 mL) olive oil
 
A pinch of saffron or 1/2 tsp (2 mL) curry powder
 
1 tsp (5 mL) paprika
 
1 medium onion, chopped fine
 
2 garlic cloves, chopped fine
 
2 tomatoes, peeled and quartered
 
1/2 tsp (2 mL) sugar
 
1 green pepper, slivered
 
1/2 lb (250 g) medium shrimp, raw
 
1/2 to 3/4 lb (250 to 350 g) scallops
 
1/4 cup (60 mL) white wine or vermouth or fish fumet

Directions

Place the butter and olive oil in an 8 x 8-inch (20 x 20 cm) microwave-safe dish.
Microwave 3 minutes at HIGH.
Add the saffron or curry powder, paprika, onion and garlic.
Stir.
Microwave 1 minute at HIGH.
Add the tomatoes, sugar and green pepper.
Micro wave 1 minute at HIGH.
Mix thoroughly.
Shell the shrimp and cut each scallop into 2 or 3 thin slices.
Add to the tomatoes and stir well.
Add the wine or vermouth or fish fumet.
Cover the dish with waxed paper and microwave 5 minutes at HIGH.
Stir well and serve.
