Simple Scalloped Tomatoes Recipe

 Onion1/4 Cup (16 tbs), minced
 4 tablesp. melted butter, margarine, fat, or salad oil
 Soft bread crumbs2 1/4 Cup (16 tbs)
 Granulated Sugar1/2 Teaspoon
 Salt1 Teaspoon
 Pepper1/4 Teaspoon
 Cayenne pepper1 Dash
 Tomatoes1

Directions

Saute the onion in 3 tablesp of the butter until onion is tender.
Combine onion, 2 c of the bread crumbs, the sugar, salt, pepper, and cayenne.
Arrange a layer of tomatoes in the bottom of a greased or oiled 1 1/2 qt casserole.
Top with a layer of the bread crumb mixture.
Continue until all is used, having a iayer of tomatoes on top.
Combine remaining 1/4 c bread crumbs with the remaining 1 tablesp butter, and sprinkle over the top of the casserole.
Bake in a moderately hot oven of 375ºF for 45 min.
