Scalloped Tomatoes Recipe

Scalloped tomatoes are oven baked tomatoes. Cooked wit breadcrumbs and butter, these scalloped tomatoes are cooked with layered and baked and can be served as a side with dishes of choice.

Ingredients

 
6 ripe tomatoes or 1 can solid pack tomatoes
 
1 teaspoon sugar
 
Salt
 
Pepper
 
1 cup coarse dry bread crumbs
 
3 tablespoons butter

Directions

Skin the ripe tomatoes and cut in slices.
Combine crumbs, sugar, salt, pepper, and butter.
Place a layer of tomatoes in the bottom of a buttered casserole and sprinkle with some of the crumb mixture.
Repeat with tomato layers and crumb mixture until dish is filled, then top with remaining crumb mixture.
Bake in a preheated 350° oven for 30 minutes.
